Relationships — whether with friends, family members, or partners — can be wonderful sources of mutual joy, support, and care.
Relationships can also be sources of stress and grief: such is the price we pay for connection, that when it’s threatened or lost we are deeply impacted.
Relationships are also where we may be challenged to grow as people. We might be called by our partners, friends, parents, or children to learn new skills, stretch ourselves, and adapt to changes.
For most of us, relationships are very central to our lives.
Yet, boys and men are often discouraged from developing certain relationship skills, like empathy, vulnerability, and care. So what impact might this have on our relationships long term?
Join us at our first IN-PERSON EVENT since February 2020 :’) We’re so excited to be gathering together once more as we explore the topic of healthy relationships! We’ll dive into:
What skills are needed to have healthy relationships?
How have the messages we’ve received about how to “be men” influenced our ability to form and maintain relationships with others? Which skills were we discouraged from learning?
On the flip side, how do our experiences in relationships change how we understand what “being a man” (or a woman, or nonbinary person!) is all about?
How have we (or how can we) learn the skills needed for healthy relationships? Who can help us learn & practice these skills?
How might challenging gender stereotypes help us to have healthier relationships?
Come hang out with us on April 6th at 6:00pm MT at the Dorset Pub in Calgary. Hope to see you there!
