NGM Thoughts 10: Male Empathy

I was recently invited to an event to take part in a conversation where a group of men and women talked about an article pertaining to men and the #MeToo movement. It was a rich discussion, but I was absolutely floored when one of the male participants articulated something I thought/felt, but never had words for.

He said:

“How are men supposed to feel others’ feelings when men aren’t allowed to feel their own feelings?”

Whoa…

When we don this mask of masculinity and hide our emotional inner selves, how do we remove the mask to feel the feels, and express our compassion for others’ feelings?
