International Women’s Day 2016 in Toronto
International Women’s Day is coming up on Tuesday March 8th!
Last year, I was able to check out some really interesting and educational events, including the rally and march in downtown Toronto, an amazing night of spoken word, music and dance performances, and art (supported by the amazing team from Spoke N’ Heard!), and We Talk Women‘s powerful documentary screening and panel discussion on Domestic Violence. One of the panelist organizations, Interval House, has just released an important study and campaign, #NotHerFault, that shows that unfortunately, we have a lot of work to do to end violence against women and girls in Ontario.
This year, I’m really excited to be attending the United Nations’ official observance of International Women’s Day 2016, where the focus will be on building momentum for the implementation of the new Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG5: Achieve Gender Equality and Empower All Women and Girls.
There are so many other great events happening for International Women’s Day 2016 in Toronto and across Canada. Here are a few that we’d love to attend!
